Man holding up a sign that read, “I am a beggar, In God, We Trust” was arrested and charged with panhandling.
Ocala police responded to the area of South Pine Avenue following reports of a man standing in the middle of the street.
When police arrived, they observed Christopher Piscitelli standing in the street wearing a hospital gown while holding a sign and begging for money.
When speaking with Piscitelli, the officer advised him that panhandling is illegal in the city limits.
According to reports, Piscitelli then stated, “Panhandling is not the same as begging.”
The officer also noted that he “reeked” of alcohol.
Piscitelli was arrested and charged with Panhandling. He has been arrested 22 times for various offenses, including felony battery.
