Ocala, Florida — The gas line has been repaired and there are no further dangers to the community.
On Wednesday, officials reported a ruptured natural gas line, located in the 3800 block of U.S. 27.
According to the Ocala Police Department, traffic was re-routed eastbound on U.S. 27 at Northeast 38th Avenue.
Officials said that businesses and hotels in the area were not being evacuated; however, people were warned to stay indoors.
TECO People’s Gas quickly arrived on the scene to make the repair.
TECO spokeswoman Sylvia Vega said, “The 2 inch steel service line ruptured after a contractor hit it while doing construction in the area.”
During the repairs, TECO Customers experienced longer than usual hold times for customer service calls.
