Marion County — The Florida Highway Patrol said two people were killed and three children were taken to Shands following a Wednesday morning crash.
The accident occurred on I-75 in Marion County at mile marker 365, which is just south of County Road 318.
FHP said the crash happened after a minivan clipped the left front of a semi. The driver of the minivan then lost control, went off the highway, slammed into two trees, and burst into flames.
The semi-driver was able to pull the children from the burning van, however, they suffered serious injuries.
The semi-driver was not injured.
